Welcome to the supernatural creature's haven, Kinau. Kinau is a fictitious town on the O'ahu island of Hawaii. Why supernaturals have congregated in the island city is still unknown, but the inhabitants, human and supernatural alike, are learning to adjust to their new reality.
This site aims for a supernatural spin on a slice-of-life city, complete with an academy and college to ensure everyone has a place here.
Events
the valentines dance is open to all. staff will post a starting thread and you can post an entry or make a thread of your own. the dance will take place near the beach. its all outdoors with the dance floor being in large pavilion.
for those that show up without a date. fret not. we have a little sign up sheet for blind dates.
if you don't want your character to participate in the blind date, don't worry they can still be part of the dance.
apart from the dance there will be food/drinks and of course access to the beach.

01/29 we have a new skin! a new species and are now accepting gradeschoolers incase anyone feels like making younger characters!
a small yawn escaped her lips as she continued her walk. the hallway had a couple of students here and there. she was heading towards her next class. or at least the hallway that lead to her classroom. she still had an hour or so before it even started. she stretched her arms behind her. she couldn't afford to fall asleep now. she had a bit of reading she needed to catch up on.
she rounded the corner and set her bag down. taking a seat next to it. her legs were stretched out and she bent over and touched her toes. a bit more stretching before she started her readings. she rummaged through her bag, until she found the piece of stapled paper the text was written on. with the paper in one hand and a small pink highlighter in the other. she drew her legs closer to her, crossing them as she rested her elbows on each knee.
not even fifteen minutes into the ready and she had fallen asleep. her legs stretched out in front of her. head resting on the wall and her papers and highlighter remained on her lap. she would of more than likely slept until she woke up all on her own. had it not been the sensation of someone kicking her that stir her from her slumber than she more than likely would of not woken up so early. she noticed things on the floor near her. had they tripped?"you okay?"she asked as she rubbed her eyes and yawned once more.

Her had just about come to an end. She had been spending her free period in the library so she could finish up a paper of her science class. The class she had come out of before her free period. Her grandfather had told her when her day was over to meet him at his office. Something about going to lunch and then going home with him. Guessing him and her 'grandmother' wanted to have dinner. Remembering that her father had told her when she talked to him on the phone he had said him and her 'mother' were thinking about flying in for a visit. She had been here for about a year now and it had been a while since she had seen her parents. That was something she wanted to talk to her grandfather about. Finishing up her paper Claire smiled brightly as she signed her name and dated it. Getting up quick she packed her messenger and flung it over her shoulder. Quickly leaving the library as she rushed down to return the book she was reading and was soon off.
Not thinking too much of anything she quickly went down the halls. Not running but she was nearly at a jog. Claire was too excited to get to her grandfather's office. But she didn't make it there. As she went through the halls she hadn't noticed the girl asleep on the floor. Her surroundings were the last thing she had been paying attention to. Yelping loudly the next thing she knew she was face first on the ground. Laying there for a moment trying to comprehend what had just happened. Shaking her head Claire soon whined loudly and lowered her head. Laying on the cold floor on her belly she felt her long black hair all around her face and shoulders. She was glad that it seemed that no one else was around. Lifting her head back up Claire looked around quick just to make sure. Until she noticed another girl in the corner with her legs sprawled out the dog demon found what she had tripped on.
Blinking a couple of times she snorted and got up. Looking and seeing her bag had opened and slipped her papers Claire groaned. "All my work..." she said to herself and she picked up her mess and organized her bag. Her gaze traveling back to the sleeping girl the dog growled softly under her breath. Seeing the girl was beginning to wake up she walked over and stood there in front of her. "What are you doing sleeping in the hallway?!" She said sounding irritated. She was way more embarrassed even though thankfully no one else had seen her. But it still felt pretty embarrassing to her. Feeling her heart pounding like she had all eyes on her. But that was far from the case. Right now with her attention on the other girl she wasn't worried about how she felt.
she really needed to fix her sleeping schedule. she stretched and yawned as she watch the girl before her. she had already asked if she was alright. she didn't even answer her questions. she was completely preoccupied with all the papers on the floor."what a mess."she found herself saying without a thought."you should be more careful."she was yet unaware that this was the person who had tripped over her feet.
it wouldn't be too long before that information would be revealed.
she looked up at the girl and smiled apologetically."i guess i decided to take a nap mid study session."she said a bit embarrassed. she felt like a child getting scolded. she gathers her things and puts them in her bag."i can help you collect your things if you'd like. i mean its the least thing i can do."
hey it wasn't all her fault. it wasn't like natasha had stuck her feet out on purpose. she bit her lip softly before speaking once more."you should be more careful."she knew they shared the the blame. natasha for falling asleep in the hallways. it wasn't like she did this sort of thing all the time. she cleared her throat and stood up."like i said i'll be willing to help clean up."she needed to watch her mouth. the last thing she needed was for the girl to get even angrier.

This really couldn't be happening. She just wanted to have a good afternoon. But now it seemed like she was doing to spend her time on the floor of the hallway. All because some girl decided she wanted to fall asleep in the middle of the hall. But then again it was somewhat her fault as well. Being so excited to meet up with her grandfather the dog demon got a little too excited. But being a dog she really couldn't help it. Sighing to herself Claire shook her head "yea maybe but you need to find better places to nap..." she said trying not too sound too irritated. But she kind of was so it was too late. Brushing herself off thinking about it she was going to have to make sure she didn't hurt anything from her fall. She thought her bust broke her fall a little bit. But her knees felt a little sore. But if anyone she would ask her grandfather to look her over once she got to her office. But it seemed like she wasn't going to get there anytime soon.
Claire thought it was good at least that she wasn't going to a class. Because that would only make things worse in her eyes. Shaking that thought from her head when her dark gaze looked back up to the other girl and blinked at first. "Sure, that helps. These are for my research paper for my science class" she said to the other girl. Grabbing a few more of her papers and other things that were scattered around the area. Luckily she didn't lose everything but still this was bad enough as it was. She didn't need to lose any of these papers or have them get ruined. Thinking about that caused a cold shiver to go down her spine. Then she could say she had something to talk to her grandpa about since he was a counselor. Sighing to herself Claire just shook her head as she took her folder off the floor. Putting all of her important back inside of it and back into her bag so she knew that she wouldn't lose anymore papers.
Feeling a headache coming on the dog demon really didn't want any of this. Running her fingers through her long black hair she really wasn't sure what to say. She was still a little annoyed with what happened. But at the same time she knew she couldn't be too angry at the other girl. "Thanks...I'm sorry but, I was kind of in a hurry and I didn't really expect to take a trip." She said rubbing the back of her head. Really she truly didn't have much of a reason to be in such a hurry. Damar knew she had classes and had stuff to do. The beauty of being a college student. So much to do in so little time. With projects coming up that's surely how she felt lately. Thinking she'd be living in the library for a while. "So what you decide on a nap in the hallway?" Claire asked as she put her bag back over her shoulder. Soon offering a hand to help the other girl off the floor. Thinking it was the least she could do for getting a little angry at her.
natasha couldn't help but laugh."believe me, i don't normally nap in random hallways."she said as a yawn escaped her lips. she stretched once more and began to stand up. honestly the girl had a right to be mad. if it had been natasha's work all over the floor she wouldn't be keeping quiet. at least no one was around to step on all the white sheets of paper.
while they had been bickering away natasha had almost forgotten to ask if she was okay. after all it did seem like she fell flat on her face. she didn't see anything out of the ordinary. well at least no busted lip or blood seeping out of some wound."you alright? that was quite a fall."she said as she bit her lip softly.
her bag remained on the floor. she had already stuffed her things inside. she pushed her bag to the side. she didn't want anyone to come by and possibly trip over it. she helped the long haired girl collect her papers. glancing over the research. she figured the pages were numbered. she tried her best to sort them in order before handing them back to their owner."hey, it happens. life decided it wanted you to slow down."she said with a wink."what's your research about? if you don't mind me asking."
she spotted a couple more papers where she originally had been sitting. she sat on her knees as she collected the last remaining papers. she handed them over and took the girls hand to help herself up from the floor."thanks. i was believe it or not working on some readings. i must of dozed off. didn't get much sleep last night. of course the reading material isn't anything too exciting."she said with a laugh."sorry, i hope im not keeping you from a class or something."

Claire was just happy that she got to pick up all of her papers. She still had about a week before any of it was due. But she didn't need to lose any of it. "Yea I would really find a better place to nap." She said softly. Taking out her phone she decided to send a quick text message to her grandfather. Telling him that she was going to be a little late to meet him since she had a little run in with the floor. But she was happy that the girl was helping her pick up her papers. Counting all of them to make sure she had them all. "Yea I'm ok. My knees just hurt a little..." she said looking at her knees again. She had no idea if she was scraped or not but once she got to her grandfather's office she would roll up her pant legs and take a quick look once she got the time to sit down.
When she had all of her papers and once they were accounted for she sighed with relief. Putting her folder back into her bag she fixed up her bag again and shut it. Flipping it over her shoulder again she blinked. Only to look at the other girl and tilt her head a bit. "Yea I guess so...I never slow down when it comes to be school work. So I guess that's my wake up call." She said rubbing the back of her head again. She just wanted to go take a nap now because she just felt tired after all of this. When she heard the other girl ask what her papers were truly for she blinked and then actually let herself smile a bit. "Their for my research paper for my science class, it's basically about Ecosystems and bits of marine biology since that's what we're studying now" She said softly to answer the other girls question.
Seeing a few more papers being handed to her she tilted her head. Reading through them she still wanted to keep them. "Thank you, I needed those" she said softly as she folded them and stuck them into her bag. Running his fingers through her hair she thought she could fully stand up straight. Standing up completely Claire stretched a bit. "Its sounds like you need to go to bed earlier" she said to her. That's what her problem especially when she got into doing a bunch of her work. She could picture both her mother and father scolding her for staying up half the night. Or all night, shaking that thought from her head she chuckled a bit. "Oh no, my classes are done for the day. I was just on my way to meet my grandpa. He's the counselor here at the school. Oh! Wow how rude of me, I'm Claire" she said to her as she introduced herself. Smiling a bit more as she pushed some hair back behind her ear.
natasha laughed and shook her head."yes, mother."she said teasingly. next time she would just stock pile the coffee cups. she would say she'd never stay up late watching horror movies, but she very well knew that was just a lie.
she was glad nothing was broken. the floor was not a comfortable place to sleep or fall on. she knew it wasn't going to be much help, but natasha rummaged through her bag and produced two adhesive bandages."here its not much. they have a special ointment that help with the healing process."she told her as she handed them to her.
she laughed softly."it seemed like you're not the only one that go a wake up call today."she had casually glanced at her papers when she had helped her gather them up. she nodded at her response. science wasn't her favorite subject but she understood most of what she was talking about."are you studying to be a marine biologist or something?"
she nodded."its the price you pay when you decided to watch a good horror movie while doing your homework."she said with a laugh."i wasn't up too late. i really should of brought myself a coffee."it gave her an idea and she still had quite a bit of time before her final class."well if you have time. how about i buy you something to drink?"
natasha smiled back."lovely name and its nice to meet you despite me tripping you and all. im natasha."

Being happier when she had finally completely pulled herself together from the fall. She looked over at the other girl quick and soon stuck her tongue out. Hey she was only being honest. If it had been someone else the girl had tripped it might not have ended this smoothly. She was lucky Claire wasn't the aggressive type. Being half demon still she really wasn't the type to get angry or even start a fight. She wouldn't last in one anyway. Deep down she really couldn't get too angry at the other because she herself had a horrible habit of staying up super late herself. But for her it was because she would always try to get her stuff done. Being told she got that from her mother. Since he was the same way while in school. Still was since he was a teacher. Loving to stay up late to get papers graded and have his lesson plans ready. Smiling a bit at the thought it made the dog demon miss her parents. But she was trying to live a more independent life, she wanted to prove that she really didn't need her parents for everything.
Thinking about it since her legs hurt a little Claire thought of possibly stopping by the nurses office. But then again she thought she was probably ok. Nothing more then just a couple of minor bruises. She knew she could wait until she got back to her place. She was a big girl and could suck it up. Seeing the other girl hand her some bandages Claire soon tilted her head a bit. Smiling right after she took them. "Thanks, I appericate it." she said as she decided to take a look at her legs. A little scraped like she said but nothing too bad. But she used the bandages to cover the injured parts of her knee. Feeling a little bit better. However when she saw the other papers around Claire went over and helped her pick them up. Since she did it for her, the ravenette thought it was the least she can do. "Well, I know how you feel really. I have a really bad habit of staying up late too. But for me it's because I'm a bookworm who always wants all her work done." She said to the other girl. Thinking she would try to get herself into bed early tonight. Most of the homework she had was all due next week. So she had some time to procrastinate.
As she ran her fingers through her long black hair Claire sighed under her breath. Soon looking back to the other girl when she asked about what she was studying. "Oh well I'm really trying to be either a zoologist or a vet. I'm not sure yet, I want to do something with animals I know that." As she made sure she had her bag over her shoulder she exhaled softly. Laughing softly Claire nodded her head since she knew how it felt. "I feel your pain" she replied to her. She needed to try and fix her sleeping pattern. Looking down the halls seeing a few more people getting out of their classes she thought maybe it was good to head out now. Looking back to the green haired girl she smiled a bit more and nodded. "Sure, that sounds nice. Are you done with your classes for the day?" Claire asked her. When she heard the girls name she was happy to hear her introduce herself. Thinking she was actually getting somewhere from after all of this.
